Houston Zoo

Since I didn't have to play the organ this weekend, we decided to take a quick overnighter to Houston.  Upon the reccomendation of the lady at our hotel's front desk, we went to the Houston Zoo for the afternoon.  The weather was beautiful and the zoo was great.   Our favorite part was the Children's Zoo.  Sam loved the goats.

Photobucket
He really wanted to ride them but mean ole Dad said no.  So he contented himself by walking around and checking out each individual goat.  He wasn't very happy when we left to go see the rest.  But he took one for the team and continued on.

day 22

All was forgiven when he saw the swimming pool at the hotel.

(In case you're wondering, yes I am a little obsessed with lens flare these days.)

Snow Day

day 21
(Yes, this is the same tree you saw on day 13.  The view from our patio is limited.)

This is the snow that closed down Austin.  I think we may have got a half of an inch. Do you see the grass peeking through?

To be fair they build the freeways off the ground here so everything iced over last night.  Couple that with peeps who don't drive in winter conditions (or have any sort of winter gear) I can understand why all of the schools (including Ben's University of Texas) and government offices didn't open today.

It was like a holiday 'round these parts. Kids were out sledding with cookie sheets, cardboard boxes and laundry hampers.

Sadly, it all melted off quickly and the roads were dry by noon.

We should be back in the 60's by the weekend.

Hard Workin' Man

day 20

The view from my office couldn't have been better today.  Dr. Ben's car is in the shop so he worked from home today.  I love the look of utter concentration he has while doing super smartie work on his laptop. You have to concentrate when you are saving the world.

Or simulating some sort of something for semipermeable membranes.

Or something.

I really couldn't tell you.

I just know he's smart.

And handsome.

What Sam does.

day-19

For the love of all things Cars.
This is how we spend our mornings.  Sam pulls me over to his table and then proceeds to play with his cars.  If I leave he drags me back.
Sometimes, if I'm lucky, he'll let me play with the hippy VW bus Fillmore.
